Willie H. Hinton, 69, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, August 18, 2023 at 1:15 AM at Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Broadview Heights, Ohio. He was born on June 25, 1954 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Willie H. Hinton Sr. and Mamie Hinton. As a young child his parents decided to come to Cleveland Ohio to live. His dad worked while his mother took care of him and his younger sibling Clifford at that time.
Willie attend Cleveland Public School and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1975. His major was electrical shop! He love working with wires and other electrical materials as he learned the trade. A trade that would later be his passion.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force to further his training. He did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas to become a Electric Power Line Maintenance Specialist. After graduation he was stationed at Holoman Air Force Base in Otero County, New Mexico. During this time he married his high school sweetheart Kim Hoy and a daughter, Kim Nicole was born on December 17,1978
He stayed at Holoman Air Force Base in Otero County New Mexico until he was honorably discharge on March 24, 1980. Willie received the AF Longevity Service Award; AF Good Conduct Medal, October 6, 1975 through October 5, 1978.
He still continued his career working with electricity with the Illuminating Company as a electrical lineman, Ohio Bell Telephone Company, a wireman, and Cable Vision as a cable linesman.
Willie was predeceased by his father Willie Sr. and mother Mamie Hinton, brother Henry Jones Jr, and sister Mattie Jones-Easman. He is survived by his daughter Kim Nicole Hinton and grandson Daithan V. Hinton, sisters Mary Jones and Rachel Hinton, brothers Clifford Hinton(Patricia), George Hinton, sister in law Susie Bennett-Jones, 19 nephews, 12 nieces, and a host of great and great-great nephews and nieces, the love of his life Kim R Hinton-Burnet, children Natasha, Brandon, Isaiah. And a special acknowledgement of his great nephew Christopher who predeceased him whom he loved, talked about and missed dearly.
Visitation will be 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 E. Market Street in Akron). Willie will be laid to rest with military rites at 1:45 PM, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
