William Herman Noss, age 82, of Medina, passed away September 22, 2024 after a brief hospitalization. Bill will be missed by many and our hearts are broken by his sudden passing. He was born on December 22, 1941 in Cleveland, the son of the late Evelyn (Reichwein) Noss and Herman Noss. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers Raymond (Patty) Batke; Robert (Donna) Batke and his sister Sharon Marie. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Noss (Brian Mackynen); sons Jeffrey Noss (Janet Burkhart); Keith Noss (Monica Noss); and Kevin Noss; his one granddaughter Monroe Noss; and his former wife and mother of his children Darlene Owens. Bill will also be remembered fondly by his loving dogs Stacey and Stormy, whom he adored.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Highland High School in Granger Township. As a Senior in high school, he joined the United States Naval Reserve. Upon graduation, he entered the Navy’s Great Lakes electrical school program at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. Upon its completion, he registered at the Max Hayes Trade School in Cleveland for their electricians apprentice program. He was there for one month, when he decided it was best to complete his 2-year active duty commitment with the Navy. During the 2 years, he had a 7-month cruise of the Mediterranean Sea and then on to the Indian Ocean, proudly serving his country aboard the USS Laffey DD-724 as an FT3 in the 3rd Division Radar Room from 1960-1962. After his stint in the Navy, Bill returned to Max Hayes and completed his 4-year apprenticeship. He became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 38 and worked as an electrician in outside construction for 11 years.
Bill enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring from the Chrysler Stamping Plant after 3 decades of service as an accomplished and highly trained Electrician. Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering commitment to his family, as well as his career and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling in his earlier life, which led him to become a certified chief instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and a certified sidecar instructor for the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America. He was also the National Director of rider education and safety for the Gold Wing Road Riders’ Association. Bill was very proud that he traveled all 48 contiguous states by motorcycle. He served as President, Vice-President and was a long-time member of The Fraternal Order Of Police Associates, as well as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Later in life, he enjoyed cruising with his family. Bill never met a card game that he didn’t want to play and especially didn’t want to win.
