Thomas Edward Smith

Canton

Thomas (Tom) Edward Smith went on to His Great Reward of Heaven on Monday, July 3, 2023 just eight days after His 64th Birthday.  Tom fought a short term coragious battle with cancer while He still remained a kind, gentle loving and jolly Man to those who knew Him.  He passed away at the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio.  

Tom was Born in Canton, Ohio to Mr. And Mrs. Edward and Jean Smith both parents deceased along with His sister (deceased).  As Tom grew up, He attended and graduated from GlenOak Highschool in Canton, Ohio than later attended The University of Akron where He studied Mass Media Communications and Psychology.  He worked various job positions in restaurants and retail Dennys, Walmart, Walgreens and His last position was at the 24 hour Rite Aide in Canton where He worked over nights.  Tom prided Himself as never have takin a vacation in all the years worked.  He had an excellent work ethic. 

Tom was also a very talented and highly skilled actor appearing in various movies filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Akron/Canton, Ohio areas and Cleveland, Ohio.  He often played roles as zombies, news reporters, and even an amish man to name a few type roles.  Some of the films He appeared in are Underdogs the Movie, Waiting for the Lighting, Fools Tango, Amish in Ohio, the Amish Mafia and several other movie, television, video and photo shoot projects since 2011.  Tom worked out of Lillian Pyles Casting Agency of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was also a wonderful writer.

Tom's hobbies included watching and collecting old movies, and television shows with Star Trek and Dark Shadows as His favorites to name a few.  He enjoyed the arts of live music, craft shows, art festivals, music from the 40s to 80s of all genres, One of Tom's favorite things to do was to dress up for Halloween and St. Patrick's  Day as Tom was very proud of His Irish Heritage.

He enjoyed and loved all animals especially his dogs.  Tom's dog Beau a gray hunting dog passed away in 2022 and in 2023 He got a new dog named Mater a chocolate lab who He leaves behind and later adopted out to a family in Maryland. How He would talk and love those two dogs. 

Tom's great grandfather was a Methodist Minister on His Father's side.  Tom's Father was Methodist and His Mother was Catholic.  Tom was baptized Catholic.  He was a Man of such strong faith in God and a Believer often attending Protestant to Catholic Churches.  Tom said that He Always Belived in the magic of the Lord He has Saved and Walked Me through many things that I always remained in The Faith.  He would go on and say I Believe God introduces us to people and ideas and is always at Our Side.  God works Miracles. Tom and His Friends prayed for a miracle in healing Tom and Tom was optimistic that He would be healed as He prayed for Gods will.  Gods will be done.  Anyone that met Tom made a Friend.

Tom leaves behind many cherished memories to His best, dear, closest Friends David Jr., and Noelle Venerose there children David the 3rd, and Josef Frank Venerose of Hubbard, Ohio, David, Jodi Pleasant, Paul and Susan Pleasant, Daryl Pleasant and Edward Pleasant of Canton, Ohio, Tom's cousins Lori, (Kevin) and Brian Miller, nieces and nephews, Amy Kovacs and her daughter Duncan of Ravenna, Ohio, Friend Doug Simpson of Canton, Ohio and Donald E. Vogus, Jr. Of Canton, Ohio as well.  Tom also leaves behind Judy and Harold Dean of Akron, Ohio, Durby and Annette Wood of Akron, Ohio, Angeline Ferraro of Poland, Ohio, Lynda Ayers Dexter of Canton, Ohio and Jodie Mellinger of Medina, Ohio.  

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at the Fairmount Memorial Park Chapel (4199 South Union Avenue in Alliance, Ohio 44601.  The very Reverend Fr. Edward Gretchko will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, any contributions would be greatly appreciated and all proceeds will go towards a dignified cemetery marker for Tom.  Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186

Eternal Rest be granted to Thomas Edward Smith of Canton, Ohio born on July 25, 1959 and passing on July 3, 2023 and let His Perpetual Light be shined.  May Tom's Soul and All of the Souls of the Faithfully departed through the mercy of God Rest in Peace.
