Thomas F. Mattingly passed away on August 6, 2023. He is preceded in death by wife Evelyn Mattingly and his parents Goldie and Bernard Mattingly. Also preceding him are the children of Patricia, Chele Robertson and Larry Mailcut, Jr. He is survived by wife Patricia A. Mattingly, sister Kathleen (Kirby) Nanna, daughter Jennifer Mattingly, sons Shawn (Jamee) Mattingly, Christopher (Susan) Mattingly and Michael (Lynlee) Mattingly, seven grandchildren Madison, Luke, Andrew, Tommy, Henry, Anamarie and Amelia and sister-in-law Michele Mohlmaster.
Tom lived his entire life in the Barberton-Akron area. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Akron. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox after 28 years of service where he worked as a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer and Quality Control Manager. After retiring, he worked at Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Course in various capacities including scheduling tee times, grounds crew and starter. As an avid golfer, Tom enjoyed golfing any time he could play. He golfed on several leagues throughout the years and not a weekend went by when golf wasn’t on the television or discussed in the home. Tom also enjoyed watching football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Tom took pride in the appearance of his beautiful yard and was frequently sighted either mowing or landscaping. He also loved a good political debate (or argument) on occasion. Tom will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.
