Tammy Lynn Osborne

March 17, 1962 — July 10, 2023

Tammy Lynn Osborne (McElroy), 61, of Akron, Ohio, ended her battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord, the evening of July 10, 2023, at Summa Health System – Barberton Campus, with her husband and children at her bedside.   She was born the daughter of Judith Sellers (Derby) and George McElroy in Barberton, Ohio on March 17, 1962.  She became the wife of Kenneth Richard Osborne in 1979 and together they shared 44 years of marriage.  In those 44 years together, they raised their two children, Kelly Ann Habig (Osborne) and Michael Lewis Osborne, and then later enjoyed their grandchildren, Christopher and Lucas Habig, Bailey McMahon, Ethan and Kaitlyn Osborne.

Tammy was a resident of Coventry Township for most of her young life, an Akron resident for all of her adult life.  She was a passionately devoted mother and wife, a cherished friend to many, a woman of unimpeachable character and grace, always said exactly what she thought, and she always put everyone ahead of herself.  Jesus was her Lord and Savior.  She was engaged in every aspect of her kids’ young lives, from being an active member of the PTA in her kids’ elementary school, to keeping score for her son’s team, and eventually coaching for her daughter’s team for Kenmore little league baseball.  She joined Karate with her son and made it to green belt in Tae Kwon Do, where she was dubbed a “SuperMom” by the late James Rudibaugh, her Sensei at the Art of Karate in Barberton.  She was a line cook at various restaurants in the area, a caterer for a time, and eventually took up serving.  In her later years she took up crafting, going shopping (and occasionally to casinos) with her daughter, mother, and sister, and never passed on an opportunity to be with her kids and her grandkids.  Her home was through it all a constant and welcoming gathering place of friends and family.  She loved the ocean and the beach, was a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and never missed her favorite reality shows.

She is preceded in death by her great grandmother Nellie Hardman, grandmother Eva Capron; cousins Jeffrey and William Hinkle; sister Kimberly Miller (McElroy); brother Terry McElroy; Father George McElroy;  Brothers and sister-in-law Charles, George, William, Louis Osborne, Elizabeth Miller (Osborne); Nieces and nephews Robert Osborne, Justin Osborne, Michelle and David Edwards.

She is survived by The Sellers (Judith and Kenneth); The McElroys (Dean and Troy); The Hinkles (Freddie, Jerry, Dennis and their children) The Habigs (Kelly, Christopher, Christopher III, and Lucas).  The Osbornes (Michael, Miranda, Bailey, Ethan and Kaitlyn). The Osborne nieces and nephews (Jason and Christa and their children; Dean, Denise, Dee Dee, Damon, and Desiree and their children);. The Finks (Darin, Cindy, Samantha, Emily, and Cameron); The Wallaces (Gabrielle and Leah); The Hetricks (Justine, Brandon, and their children); The Ash’s (Marsady, Desiree, Donald and their children); The Edwards’s (Cody and Kailey and their children).

Thank you to Summa's Radiation staff and the Oncology staff, and our friends and family, et cetera who saw to Tammy’s round-the-clock care and comfort over the duration of her illness.

A private celebration of life event has been arranged for family and close friends.
