Steven Lee Wornica, a beloved husband, father brother, and friend, passed away on January 5, 2024, in Akron, OH at the age of 62. He was born on November 19, 1961, in Akron, OH to William and Doreen Wornica.
Steven lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family and various career accomplishments. He attended North High School and later embarked on a successful career as a custodian at The Chapel. He took great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all who worshiped there. His dedication to his work was evident in the pristine condition of the facilities. Following his tenure with The Chapel, Steven also served as a hose maker at Swagelok for 10 years. His meticulous attention to detail ensured the production of high-quality products that were essential in various industries.
In addition to his roles at The Chapel and Swagelok, Steven transitioned to become an Independent Driver for FedEx for another decade. His commitment to delivering packages with efficiency and care was widely recognized and appreciated by both his colleagues and customers.
Steven's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his membership at Maranatha Bible Church. He found solace and strength in his faith and actively participated in the congregation's activities. His devotion to serving others within the church community brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Beyond his professional pursuits and religious involvement, Steven held a deep passion for reading, fishing, and supporting various sports teams. As an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland Guardians, he relished every game and celebrated both victories and defeats with unwavering loyalty.
One of Steven's lesser-known passions was cooking - particularly his famous sixty minute rolls. No family gathering or church event was complete without these delectable treats that he lovingly prepared from scratch. His culinary skills will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of savoring his creations.
Steven was a loving and devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Lee Wornica, their son Aaron Lee Wornica, and daughter Abigail Lee Wornica. Their enduring bond as a family was built on a foundation of love, support, and shared experiences. Steven's siblings Cheryl Keele and Paul Wornica were not only siblings but also cherished friends who provided him with unwavering support throughout his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Steven leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who all held a special place in his heart. His warm smile and generous spirit touched the lives of many, creating lasting memories for all fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service will be held at Maranatha Bible Church located at 1424 Killian Rd, Akron, OH 44312 on January 18, 2024. The service will begin at 10:00 AM and will be followed by a reception. Another memorial service will take place at the same location on the same day at 11:00 AM to accommodate those who wish to attend.
Steven Lee Wornica will forever be remembered as a devoted family man, dedicated professional, faithful church member, and loyal sports enthusiast. His genuine kindness, unwavering love, and infectious enthusiasm touched countless lives along his journey. While he may no longer be physically present with us, his legacy of compassion and joy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to have had him in their lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
