Mrs. Ruth Ann Campbell of Rocky River passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by her 3 loving sons. Mrs. Campbell was born on September 11, 1930 in Cadiz, OH to the late Peter and Martha Speicher. She graduated from Cadiz High School in 1948.
Mrs. Campbell was a loving wife, having been married 71 years at the time of the death of her husband, her high school sweetheart and constant companion, John S. Campbell III. She was also a tremendous mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, raising 3 sons and cherishing their children and their children’s children.
Mrs. Campbell taught and eventually served as Director of the Rocky River Presbyterian Preschool, retiring in 1998. She touched the lives of thousands of young people.
Mrs. Campbell was also an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing for her students at the Preschool.
After retirement Mrs. Campbell worked part-time at the Rocky River Target store and became a staple at the checkout line, always smiling and enjoying catching up with friends, former students, and members of the community. Mrs. Campbell also loved creating homes in Rocky River and Atwood Lake. The doors to these homes were always open-she and her husband cherished their time with family and friends. Mrs. Campbell always made these family gatherings special…lots of food, cookies, pies, and most of all, love. These get togethers will always be cherished by members of her family.
Mrs. Campbell leaves behind many to cherish her precious memories; son Timothy Campbell and his family, wife Kim Campbell (Jeffries) and their two children Aubree and Brandon, son Dr. Thomas Campbell and his wife Dr. Rita Kazlauskas and their three children Dr. Emily, Matthew and Monica, and son John Campbell his wife Krista Campbell (Neltner) and their three children Sam, Andrew, and Daniel. Mrs. Campbell is also survived by four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Campbell also loved her dogs (Tilly, Cinders, Betsy)-that love of dogs was passed to her children and grandchildren.
A private celebration of Mrs. Campbell’s life is planned. The family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made in Mrs. Campbell’s honor to the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
