Roy Edward Manns, born August 9, 1945, in Bassett, Virginia, gently left this world on November 22, 2024, at the age of 79, while residing in Akron, Ohio. Roy's life was rich in experiences that forged deep connections with his family, friends, and the community around him. Roy bravely served his country as a Helicopter Gunner during the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage and dedication. His years of service were marked by a commitment that extended beyond himself, protecting and serving others. Following this honorable period in his life, Roy became an advocate in the motorcycling community, where his passion for bikes was both a source of adventure and a bridge to friendships that lasted a lifetime. For 35 years, Roy shared a harmonious and loving marriage with his wife, Brenda Manns, who predeceased him. Together, they built a life full of treasured memories, grounded in shared values of family and kindness. Roy believed in dressing to impress, perhaps a reflection of his broader life approach-one that was meticulous and intentional. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Roy's kindness was a cornerstone of his character, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him. He was a devoted father to his sons, Roy Manns Jr. and Nicholas Manns, who carry forward his legacy of integrity and compassion. Roy also cherished the laughter and joy of his grandchildren, Quentin Manns, Briaunna Manns, and Kaden Manns, their presence a vibrant part of his life. Roy was predeceased by his beloved parents, Bessie Keys and Harvey Manns, and his brother, Harvey Manns Jr., who all held significant places in his heart. As per Roy's wishes, foregoing ceremonies of grandeur, a simple service will take place at his home, according to his humble nature, next to his wife Brenda. Roy Manns was a man of quiet dignity, whose life was a testament to love and service. In leaving this world, he joins his beloved Brenda once more, together again in peace. Those who remember him are invited to honor his life by a reflecting on their own moments of service and by embracing the spirit of community and kindness that he embodied so well
