Richard spent the majority of his career working at Kent State University, where he was an integral part of the HVAC team. He took great pride in his work and cherished the camaraderie he shared with his coworkers. Richard's warm and friendly nature made him a joy to be around, and he always had a kind word or a helpful gesture for those who crossed his path.
Outside of work, Richard was a true home-body. His favorite pastimes included cheering for both the Cleveland Browns football team and the Cleveland Guardians baseball team. He never missed a game and could often be found passionately supporting his beloved teams with unwavering loyalty. Richard also had a passion for riding motorcycles and embraced the freedom of the open road. He found solace in the wind against his face as he cruised along highways and explored new destinations.
Music played an important role in Richard's life. He had a deep appreciation for classic rock music that he would crank up loud, allowing the melodies to envelop him entirely. Whether it was singing along to his favorite songs or simply enjoying the rhythm, Richard found comfort and joy in the power of music.
Richard was not only a fan of leisurely activities but also enjoyed engaging in friendly competition. He loved playing billiards and darts with friends and family, creating lasting memories while showcasing his competitive spirit. These games were not just about skill but served as opportunities for laughter and bonding.
Above all else, Richard treasured time spent with loved ones. He shared an unbreakable bond with his parents Loretta Nichols and the late Jack Nichols , as well as his late sister Jackie Nichols. Richard's children, Mellissa Coyle and Justin Moore, meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. His love for his family was unconditional and unwavering, and their happiness was his greatest joy.
To honor Richard's memory and celebrate his life, a Celebration of Life event will be held on October 12, 2023. The event will take place at the Roy Smith Shelterhouse located at 601 Middlebury Rd, Kent, Ohio. The service will begin at 4:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM. It will be a time for family and friends to gather together, share stories, and remember the remarkable person Richard was.
