Paul Shilts passed away a month shy of his 88th birthday. He was a soft spoken, kind soul, who was rarely seen without his Elmer Fudd hat, regardless of the weather outside. He fancied a pocket protector filled with pens, and pants with pockets to carry all things important to him. He loved Elvis, Patsy Cline, lots of warm blankets and regardless of the fact he had no teeth, he would never say no to his favorite food, a piece of fried chicken!
He was the youngest of 9 children, born in Akron. After his dad passed, he went to W. Virginia at 3 years old, attended school until 3rd grade and then stayed home and worked on the family farm. He returned to Akron in 1955 and lived with his mom until she passed in 1974. After she passed, he was often seen near his home in W. Akron collecting cans until he saved enough money to be buried next to his mom.
Throughout the years he made friends at Siffrin, Catholic Charities Day Program, UDS in Kent and Sarah Care. He preferred not to participate in many activities, but was always actively watching 😊 Paul will be loved and missed by all who were blessed to know him. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Markets Street), where friends will share stories at 6:30 PM. Private interment Hillside Memorial Park.
