Nancy (Bednar) Hornyak

Nancy Hornyak, 88, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on November 24, 2023.  

She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, where she became head majorette at St. Vincent during her high school years. 

She would go on to get married and have six children. She also worked toward a distinguished career with Meridia Health Care Systems, becoming Vice President of Information Services, which was unprecedented for her generation. During that time, she would make lifelong friends Judy Malasky and Alice Biro, who remained close to her throughout her life.

Nancy is preceded in death by both parents, her brothers Bill and Jim, and her daughter Mary Rose. To carry on her legacy of a strong work ethic and a “clean home”(which held many family get togethers and delicious meals), she leaves her children; Debbie Bednar, David/Paula Bednar, Terri/Chuck Snyder, Loretta/Scott Wilkins, and Michael/Sona Bednar. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with another on the way, including Carter who brought her much joy in her later years. She was very loved and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at St. Hilary’s Church, Fairlawn OH, Saturday Dec. 2nd at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to NAMI of Summit County or St. Jude’s Hospital.  Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
