Michael Dolly

April 22, 1951 — June 1, 2023

Michael Brian (Mike) Dolly passed away in Akron, Ohio on 6/1/23.

Mike was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to James and Lillian Dolly on 4/22/1951. He moved to Ohio in 1969 to attend Miami University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and later a Master’s degree in Social Service Administration from Case Western Reserve University. Mike was very devoted to helping families and children in his community and subsequently worked for 30 years at Summit County Children Services and four years at Akron Child Guidance Center.

In addition, Mike loved gardening and spent countless hours tending to his vegetable garden as well as the many plants and flowers he planted anywhere he could find a space in his yard. He loved listening to music, attending concerts, and following sports and the news. Mike’s biggest passion though was spending time with his family, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and many activities, and supporting them any way he could.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James (Skip) Dolly. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia (Cindy) Dolly; daughter, Rachel Miller (Collin); son, Brian Dolly (Jean); grandchildren Addyson Miller, Audrey Miller, Levi Dolly, and Marlo Dolly; special cousin, Thomas Dolly; and numerous extended family and friends.

Mike was a loving and devoted husband, a  supportive and caring dad, and an over-the-moon papa. “All You Need is Love” and we were all the loves of his life. He would do anything for us with no questions asked. He always put us first. We will truly miss him and we will keep him close in our hearts forever.

A private gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date.
