Mary Patience Roberts

Mary Patience “Pat” (Chisholm) Roberts, 80, of Akron, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 23, 2023, at the Village of St. Edward at Fairlawn. Born on November 5, 1942, to Mary Patience Battels and Daniel James Chisholm, she was known as Mary to some and Pat to others. But they were all her friends. She was a kind and loving person who would lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. She had the gift of making you feel you were the only person that mattered as she listened to your ups and downs.

Pat graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1960 and met the love of her life when she was working at Western Auto, and later went on to work in downtown Akron for a few years as a bookkeeper at the Sheraton Hotel. Most of her career was spent at Akron General Hospital, where she made life-long friends, and cared for many people. She started out as a Housekeeper, but soon studied to be a Nursing Assistant, which she did for more than 30 years. After retirement, Pat became active at St. Vincent Church again and was the president of the Altar Society for many years and closed out her career working at the rectory.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forrest Montgomery, her mother-in-law Rosalind, her brothers James and Daniel, sister-in-law Pam, and nephew Patrick. She is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, her brother William Chisholm, her sisters-in-law Corinne Chisholm and Vickie Chisholm, her children Rosalind Ruth (Takeshi), Walter Daniel (Beth), and Michael Allen (Beckee), her grandchildren Nick, Bridgett, Michael, and Garrett, her nieces and nephews Brian, Kathy, Christy, Danielle, Amy, Josh, Will, and Emily, many cousins, and her dear friends Rosemary, Terry & Sue, and Miki.

Her children would like to give a special thanks to all the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, aides, and staff at the Village of St. Edward for taking such excellent care of her over the last year. It has been greatly appreciated.
