Mary Ann Reiser

Mary Ann Stribrny Reiser of Brunswick, Ohio died peacefully at her home on February 10th, 2025 at the age of 97.

Mary Ann was born August 20th, 1927 in Cleveland, the seventh child of a large Czech family whose parents immigrated from there. She loved to tease that she thought summer was the only season, because she was born then. This is fitting, since she loved flowers and gardening.

Her memories of her childhood revolved around that large, loving family, where everyone pitched in to help with chores, and participating in activities with the Czech social and gymnastic organizations.

Mary Ann married her late husband, Paul Joseph Reiser, on May 29, 1948. They were married for 37 years, until he passed in July of 1985. They moved to Cuyahoga Falls, where they raised three children: Linda, Paul, and Kathy, their youngest, who proceeded Mary Ann in death in 2021.

Mary Ann worked as the Office Manager for the Speech & Audio Department at Kent State from 1969-1990.

Music was more than a hobby for Mary Ann, it was her love. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a flute major and piano minor. Mary Ann resumed flute lessons at the age of 80 and participated in the New Horizons Band. She also sang at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Cuyahoga Falls for 45 years. She also enjoyed attending concerts by the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mary Ann was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Cuyahoga Falls from 1954 until she moved to Brunswick in 2019. During that time, in addition to singing in choir, she served on various Boards and Committees and attended weekly Bible studies.

Through these activities, she cultivated long lasting friendships. Her favorite Scriptures were Psalm 23 and I Corinthians 13.

Mary Ann was a doting grandma and great grandma. She is survived not only by Linda, Paul and his wife, Chris, but also by her granddaughters and their husbands, Kristen and Matt and Julie and Ron and her great grandchildren: Genavieve, Rowan, Kira and Aizen.
