Marjorie “Marge” A. Potye, 101, of Wadsworth, passed peacefully in her sleep, April 10, 2025.
Marge was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Charles A. and Estella (Volk) Storck on January 24, 1924. She lived in Cleveland and Alliance as a youngster, graduating from Alliance High School in 1942. She married George A. Potye, September 26, 1981. The couple lived in Leesville, Ohio until 2000 when they moved to Wooster, Ohio. Marge relocated to Wadsworth in 2014 to be near her step-daughter.
Most of her career was spent working in marketing and communications. She enjoyed a 23 year career with the Gorman-Rupp Company in Mansfield, OH. The last position she held before retiring in 1981 was Executive Assistant to the VP of Corporate Communications.
Marge was a kind and generous person. Volunteering was her passion. She helped in the creation of Hospice of Crawford County and volunteered there for many years. She was a long-time member of the Women’s Auxiliary at Galion Hospital. She and her husband, George, donated both time and handiwork to help raise money for the hospital. She loved to read, and volunteered at any library in her vicinity. Galion and Wooster libraries were two of her favorites. She continued her work with libraries by taking care of the library in her assisted-living facility, and even her last residence, her nursing home, Sanctuary Health Network in Wadsworth. In addition to her library work, she was exceptionally skilled at needlepoint. She spent much of her spare time creating beautifully crafted pieces for friends and relatives.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, George (2001), her infant daughter, Annabelle Owens (1947), and her parents, Charles and Estella Storck. She is survived by her step-daughter, Connie (Susie) Currier of Fairlawn, OH and very special cousin, Cheryl Elliott of Cincinnati. A special thank you to Sanctuary Health Network in Wadsworth. Marge was dearly loved by the staff at Sanctuary Health, who cared for her so well during the last several years of her life. Marge will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
At Marge’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Her ashes will be interned in Ashland, Ohio.
