Loretta Jean Nichols passed away of natural causes in her home on October 15, 2024, at the age of 86, in Ravenna, OH. Born on April 22, 1938, in Cleveland, OH, Loretta's life was a testament to her resilience, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Loretta's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family and her community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Nichols, her cherished children, Richard E. Nichols and Jackie L. Nichols, as well as her dear sisters, Nancy Holler and Priscilla Huth. Her warmth and love live on through her granddaughter, Mellissa Coyle (John), and her great-granddaughters, Linden and Brileigh Coyle. Loretta is also mourned by Justin Moore (Megan), who was like a grandson to her. Loretta also shared a special bond with her companion, Sam Oaks, whose companionship brought her much joy in her later years.
Loretta's life was characterized by her benevolence, her delightful sense of humor, and her fierce work ethic. After studying at Kent State University, she embarked on a career that saw her retire from Kroger before achieving a second retirement from Kent State University, where she was a valued member of the parking services team. Her commitment to her roles was evident in the care and diligence she brought to her work every day.
Beyond her professional life, Loretta was a proud and involved member of the AA community for over 45 years. Her dedication to the principles and fellowship of AA was an inspiration to many, and her guidance and support touched countless lives.
Above all, Loretta cherished her family. Her love for her children, granddaughter, and great-granddaughters was the centerpiece of her life. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, forever generous and kind, will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
