Larry W. Smith (58) passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in his home with his loving wife and soul mate of 40 years Donna by his side. They were undoubtedly meant to be together, enjoying countless memories over their incredible journey through life together. Larry is survived by his wife Donna (Nimm) Smith, sons Matthew, Jacob, and Ryan, younger brother William “Billy” (Nadya) Smith, younger sisters Debbie Gates, Melissa “Missy” (Neil) Smith, and Edie (Roger) Pickering, older sisters Mary (Dean) Stoner, Patty (Chris) Capovilla, and Tami Jackson, niece Kathryn “Kat” Smith, nephew Robert Shatsar, and many other nephews and nieces, and mother-in-law Diane (Jerry) Swanson. He’s also survived by his” brother from another mother” David and his dog Ginger and cat Coco. Predeceased by his son Steven and parents Larry D. Smith and Barbara Puckett. Born on August 1, 1966, he grew up in Rockford, Illinois, where he met his wife, and they later found themselves in Colorado where they joyfully raised their sons. Larry was a loving husband and father and good friend. He will certainly be remembered for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, and he was quite the prankster, often trying to pull a fast one on his friends and family. He was also known for putting other people first. He usually played the “Neighborhood Dad” who didn’t hesitate to offer a safe and fun place for other kids, and he also had a soft spot for stray animals. He really enjoyed seeing other people happy and spending time with his wife and sons, family, friends, and animals. He was creative and intelligent with many interests. He specialized in slate tile roofing and was the best at his craft. He enjoyed fishing, trivia, drawing, hiking, watching and playing sports, tv shows, gardening, playing cards and games (mostly trying to win in poker), and cooking that “perfect” steak. Perhaps he’ll be most remembered for his insatiable love for food. It was hard to find a time when he wasn’t eating, snacking on, or sharing one of his many favorites. Larry is now finally at peace and is most certainly walking hand in hand with his son Steven and spending time with his parents, animals, and all his loved ones. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him, and a special thanks to the caring angels of Crossroads Hospice who were there to care for and comfort him. Larry is being cremated and his family will be holding a private gathering.
