Kathy Lynn Wayman (Hale), 63, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on February at home surrounded by her daughter and son in law following a 3-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer.
She was born March 17, 1960, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Curtis Hale and Glenna Ruth Stokes (Campbell).
Kathy was President of the Akron Area Right to Life organization in the early 1990’s. When asked she stated that was one of her greatest accomplishments. She also started a pregnancy center in Marion, Ohio that she named Voice of Hope. Kathy was a devoted member of Relentless Church in Akron, Ohio. There she volunteered on the Welcome Team, where you would see Kathy’s beaming smile on Sunday morning. She also served on the Jericho Inn missions team. This team gathers twice a month to fill grocery bags and prepares hot meals for those in need. Kathy’s pride and joy however were “her girls”, daughter Sarah, and granddaughters Briella and Carly. She loved watching them work toward their goals and was always there to celebrate their successes. There was never a time when Kathy was around her girls that she wasn’t smiling. In fact, there was rarely a time she wasn't smiling. Kathy will be remembered for her radiant smile and the joy that radiated off of her. Despite her cancer journey, Kathy never complained. She fought hard and did it with a smile. Kathy spoke of knowing the Good Lord would call her home when she achieved her purpose. To know Kathy was to know love, the love of The Lord. It is without a doubt that she fulfilled her purpose
bringing people to know God and the peace that only He can provide. Kathy's legacy will certainly be one of joy and peace. She will be missed by all of those who were blessed to know her.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Curtis Hale, sister Donna Blansett, and niece Cassie Dye.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Sarah Wayman-Hayes (Dave), granddaughters Briella and Carly Ayr, Mother Glenna Ruth Stokes (Charles), brothers Michael Hale (Cindy), and John Hale (Barbara), and her sister Veronika Horonetz (Kenny).
Sarah would like to acknowledge and thank those who have been there for her and her mother during this time: Sarah’s father Mark Wayman, the Pastors and members of Relentless Church, the staff at Cooper Cancer Center, Summa Hospice with a special thank you to Gina, and Lynn Johnson, Kathy’s personal daily aide.
Kathy’s memorial will take place February 17, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Relentless Church Akron 1878 Killian Rd. Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Lindsay Shuman presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Relentless Church’s Verge Youth Group to aid in building their new gathering space.
