Johnnie W. Byrd departed this life on March 2, 2025. Born in Akron, Ohio on May 4, 1947, he was affectionately known as "JB" or “Teddy” and lived a full meaningful life.

A graduate of South High School's class of 1965, Johnnie continued his education at the University of Akron. His career began in banking in 1969 as a teller. He worked his way up to management and remained in this role until the mid-1990s. Upon leaving banking, he returned to work in retail with the Ohio state liquor department until his final retirement.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Mae Alice Byrd, and siblings, Ralph Byrd (Clary), Loretta Brown (Joseph), Carolyn Byrd, and Richard Byrd. He is survived by his beloved wife Marvie, his sister Bonnie Traylor (Ned), and his sons Johnnie W. Byrd Jr., Walter Byrd, and Douglas Henry (Mary). He also leaves behind cherished nephews Anthony Traylor (Karen), Dwaine Traylor, and Raymond Cage Jr., nieces Rolena McGee, Linda Faye Jackson, and Brenda Faire, and grandchildren L'Oreal Byrd, Paris Byrd, Latrelle Moore, Nizhoni Henry, and Miles Henry, in addition to many other extended family members.

We remember Johnnie for his dedication, wit, and strong work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
