Jo Ann Poling

Jo Ann Poling, age 82, passed away on January 24, 2025 in Barberton, Ohio. Jo Ann was born in Akron, Ohio on February 27, 1942 to Jesse Chalmer Albright and Rosa Kittle. She graduated from Central High School in 1960 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Poling, with whom she shared a special loving bond for their 64 years of marriage.

 Jo Ann and Robert had five children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and family remained the greatest joy in Jo's life, though she truly treasured all the people in her life, as is evidenced by the limitless love and enthusiasm with which she embraced others.

Jo Ann lovingly cared for the infants at her sister Dorothy's daycare in Norton for many years and always held a special place in her heart for children. She later worked at Sterling Jewelers and attended the University of Akron and Malone College. Jo had a great passion for quilting and fiber arts— a passion she held in common with her mother and sisters— and she generously gifted her beautiful creations to family and friends alike. Jo also enjoyed baking, gardening, hosting family gatherings, and watching the birds from her patio. She was a member of the Kenmore Church of Christ for most of her life but attended several others later in life. 

Jo Ann will be remembered for her gentle and joyful spirit, her kindness and warmth for all people, and her enduring devotion and love for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings Dorothy Nicolard, Chalmer "Bud" Albright, Jean Greig, and Rosa Lea (Rosie) Kovac

She leaves behind her husband Robert; children Robin Howe (Brian), Robert Poling, Russell Poling, Renee Poling, and Rochelle Poling; grandchildren Rachelle Howe, Ryan Cody Howe, Stormi Poling, and Brandon Poling; great-grandchildren Rowan Wade, Apollo Marshall, and Osiris Marshall; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. 

The family will hold a memorial in the spring.
