“Into the wind” is where James (Jim) Farmer peacefully drifted off on Thursday April 4, 2024 to join his beloved son Joseph Farmer in Heaven. Jim fought a fierce fight for 10 months trying to recover from a sudden massive stroke last June with family by his side until the end.
James Farmer was born March 29 1956. He was a lifelong resident of the Akron area starting life in Copley, raising children in Doylestown, residing in Barberton in the end. He grew up in the Kenmore area where he stayed loyal to in heart. Jimmy had a twin sister, Janey(Ash) whose hand he was holding when he smiled and took his last breath, the same one he held at birth. He is proceeded in death by his mother Lockie Farmer, father Kelly Farmer, two brothers Harry and Leroy, sister Mary Jane as well as many life long friends.
He leaves behind his committed wife, Ann Farmer, son James L. Farmer & daughter in law Amy Farmer. Daughter, Jennifer J Farmer(Matt). Three grandsons Alex(Claire), Nick and Jesse James Farmer. A granddaughter Madison and Great grand daughter Nora Joe Farmer. Sister Ann Gregory, sister in law Mary Martin. Brother, Elmer Farmer. Nephews Robert(Bob) Norris, Donald, Timothy, Kelley. Nieces Angel, Tammy, Tina, Linda & Megan. Cousin Brenda as well as many more cousins & great nieces/nephews.
James was a dedicated husband, father, friend, brother and worker. He worked as a young man in the oil industry moved on to a rubber factory for 17 years and ended his career as a dump truck driver at Spano Brothers for the union for the past 20 years. Working part time after retirement to stay busy.
James was like a tranquil wave to be next to. He was a good listener and advice giver. He could fix anything or find a way to fix it. A resourceful short cut finder. He loved to have a good time, lend a hand or have a good conversation. He could make light in any situation. James was loving, strong, reliable, smart, adventurous, intrested, caring, supportive, relatable, inspiring, proud, curious, fun, forgiving, free spirited, peaceful & quiet. A simple family man is what James was. He enjoyed fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, physical activity & adventures, seeing new places, gambling, repairing, Nascar, football, sharing his knowledge and most of all being surrounded by family and friends, teaching his grandchildren or watching tv at home on his couch with his dog and eating his wife’s dinners. James will be dearly missed by many. He was loved by anyone who got the pleasure of being in his presence.
Services will be held for Jim at Adam Mason funeral home Friday April 12 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm for visitation and viewing. We meet Saturday April 13 again at 9:00am to 10:30am for congregation before lining up and riding out at 11:00am to Greensburg Cemetery in Green to lay his final remains to rest beside his son & brother with a prayer and a toast to Jim. Bikes welcome. There is a celebration of life dinner served afterwards at Helping Hands of Victory (32 West Bellisle Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319. All are welcome.
