Jackson Ross Wagner Sr. of Akron, 92, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Akron, Jack lived most of his life in the Akron area. He graduated from North High School in 1951, where he earned 4 letters in track and cross country. In 1949 he won the state cross country meet in Mansfield, Ohio.Upon graduation from Western Reserve University in 1956, he enlisted in the Army Security Agency, where he served as a code breaker. He married the love of his life, Janet L. Draper, on June 24th 1961. They had three children, whom they adored: Julie Ann, Jackson Ross, and Jennifer Kathryn.Having worked over the years in various accounting positions for 5 local manufacturing companies, Jack retired as Vice President and Treasurer of Landmark Plastic Corporation in 1997. He was a 70 year member of Mount Akra Lodge no. 680. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a boy and as an adult supporting his son's activities in Troop 380. Jack was a faithful member of Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, serving for over 40 years as church treasurer and financial secretary until stepping down in 2017. Jack was married to his beloved Janet, his best friend and confidant, for 45 years. After she suffered a massive stroke in 1997, he devoted himself to caring for her every need for the last 10 years of her life. Despite her disability they continued to pursue their love of travel, visiting most of the 50 states including her favorite places, Alaska and Hawaii. They found great joy in the company of their children and grandchildren. Jackson often said, “The best thing I ever did was to marry Janet. She fulfilled all my dreams.”Jack was preceded in death by his wife Janet (2006) and their infant daughter Julie Ann (1965). Mourning his loss are his surviving children, Jennifer (Chris) Cooper of Akron and Ross (Ronda) Wagner of Durham, North Carolina, and his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Jemina), Caleb (Julie), Naomi, and Claire Wagner.A memorial service with interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens (Peninsula) will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
