Irvin Carter of Wooster, died peacefully at home on July 31st with family and a special caregiver by his side. He was born 1932 in Gilbert, West Virginia to the late Ernest and Opal Carter. Irvin, at the age of 17, enlisted with the Navy during the Korean War. It was an exciting time for him. He was aboard a destroyer ship and saw some war but also experienced visits to ports all around the world where his commander allowed him and his group to play many venues entertaining other veterans. Irvin was honorably discharged in November 1952. On May 8th,1 1956 he married Patricia Ray of Huntington, W.V. Moving to Wadsworth, then to Rittman, Ohio, he worked at the Bearfoot Sole as a supervisor for many years. Then he became self-employed, owning and operating 2 Sunoco gas stations in the Wasdworth area. During his long working career, he never gave up his love for country music. It was very much a part of his entire life. When he retired, he moved to Leesburg, FL, and he formed another country western band and continued to play in auditoriums and groups around the area where he became a local celebrity. Irv, also affectionately called Fafa, will be greatly missed by al that knew him. He was always a very happy and optimistic person. Funny how he had little to say in conversation, almost seemingly shy, but when he was on that stage making music he became the great entertainer. His caregiver made sure he drew his last breath listening to good ole country music. He leaves behind two children, Debra (Roy) Starcher of Wooster and Stephen (Arlene) Carter of The Villages, FL. There are four grandchildren, Valerie, Nathan, Candace and Chase; seven great grandchildren Ava, Liam, Elliot, Lydia, Anderson, Sullivan and Memphis; and a sister Yvonne Crawford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. A short military service will be held at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio, August 22 at 9:45 am. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
