Harlen David Shaw was a decorated Staff Sergeant of the US Army Infantry who rose quickly within the ranks of the special unit he was assigned to. His dedication to his country and his comrades led to many military accolades including the Bronze Star for his quick actions and thinking that saved many lives within his team.
Harlen was a man of genius level intelligence, a quick wit, and the biggest heart. He was known as a gentle giant to those closest to him, who had a passion for culinary arts and engineering. He was an exquisite chef at home and could reinvent any favorite recipe or dish that he tried even once. Harlen was such a caring man with a big heart and would often rescue wildlife and looked out for those within his closest circle.
His laugh and smile warmed your heart while his ability to solve any problem and conquer any challenge was inspiring.
Harlen had acquired his associates degree and was working on a nursing degree with the hopes to give back and help others heal.
Harlen will forever be greatly missed and will be remembered with the passion, laughter, perseverance, determination, and strength he brought into this world.
Harlen is survived by his three younger siblings: Rosebud Shaw, Kyle Shaw and Mickal (Elizabeth) Ferris. His two nephews and niece: Connor Shaw, Carter Ferris and Riley Ferris. To be included, is his much loved, extended family: Amber Bibey, Bambi Bibey, Cody Sias, Babette St. John, Noah St.John.
He was preceded in death by our loving father, John L.D. Shaw, both paternal and maternal grandparents, and Tami Coontz.
