Gregory Schwartz, beloved husband, brother, stepfather, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2023. He was born on February 29, 1968, in Alliance, Ohio. Gregory was a dedicated police officer who served his community with honor and courage for over two decades.
After graduating from the police academy in 2000, Gregory embarked on a career in law enforcement that would define his life's purpose. He approached his duties with unwavering dedication and an unwavering commitment to upholding justice. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his selfless acts of bravery and compassion.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen health challenges related to heart problems, Gregory had to take an early retirement in 2020. Although it was a difficult decision for him to step away from the badge he wore proudly, he accepted this new chapter of his life with grace and resilience.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gregory had a zest for life that extended far beyond the realm of law enforcement. He found joy and solace in various hobbies and interests that brought him closer to those he loved. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his Harley alongside his beloved wife Kim Schwartz. Cruising down scenic roads filled with adventure and freedom symbolized the bond they shared as partners and adventurers.
Gregory also cherished moments spent in nature and loved nothing more than camping under a starlit sky. Whether it was gathering around a crackling campfire or embarking on thrilling hikes through lush landscapes, he embraced these outdoor escapades with an indomitable spirit.
As an avid marksman, Gregory found solace at the shooting range where he honed his skills with precision and discipline. This activity allowed him not only to improve his marksmanship but also to cultivate friendships within a community that shared his passion.
One of Gregory's favorite destinations was Myrtle Beach, where he reveled in the sunny shores and the calming sound of crashing waves. The beach was a place where he could unwind, recharge his spirit, and create lasting memories with family and close friends.
Above all else, Gregory's love for his family and friends radiated through every aspect of his being. His devotion knew no bounds, and his loved ones felt his unwavering support in their lives. He was a rock to lean on, a best friend to confide in, and a protector who would go to great lengths to ensure their well-being. He will be greatly missed by all.
Gregory is survived by his adoring wife Kim Schwartz, whose love brought immeasurable happiness into his life. Their bond was one of unwavering love, support, and shared adventure. Together they created countless memories that will forever be cherished.
He will also be deeply missed by his stepchildren Christopher Naples, Anthony Naples, Samantha (Adam) Phillips, Aaron Hric, and Lilly Hric. Gregory embraced the role of stepfather wholeheartedly and nurtured these relationships with patience and kindness.
Gregory took immense pride in being a grandfather to his grandson Theo Phillips who was born in November, and he met in April. He was so excited to be able to take Theo fishing when he would be older.
Gregory is also survived by his brother Steve (Carolina) Schwartz & his 2 nephews Stephen & Danny.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sandra and Donald.
In honoring Gregory's memory, let us remember the dedication he demonstrated throughout his career serving the community.
