Ellen Kathleen Lenahan

Ellen Kathleen Lenahan, affectionately known as Kathleen, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. Born on July 15, 1933, in Aughalough, Leitrim, Ireland, she touched the lives of many throughout her 91 years.

Kathleen was a beloved mother to her children: Eileen Poulopoulos (Gus), Jackie Williams (John), and John Lenahan. She was also a grandmother to Christopher, Ryan, Meaghan, Basil, Ava, Charlotte, Luke, and Conor. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Lenahan, and her daughter, Geraldine Thornlow (Randy).

In search of new opportunities, Kathleen left Ireland to settle in Birmingham, England. It was in England that Kathleen met the love of her life, Jack Lenahan. Their journey together began with a move to the United States in 1957, where they first resided in the Bronx, NY. Kathleen and Jack married in 1959, and together they raised their four children.

After living in the Bronx for several years, the family eventually moved to Yorktown Heights, NY in 1973, where they created lasting memories for over 30 years, forging new friendships and reconnecting with old ones from Ireland. Kathleen cherished the time spent with her family.

In retirement, Kathleen and Jack settled in Wilmington, NC, where they spent 20 memorable years. They formed strong friendships in the Wilmington community and often hosted gatherings at their home, where Kathleen loved to entertain. She had a particular fondness for dancing and enjoyed listening to Irish music, making their parties a memorable experience for friends and family.

Kathleen will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the countless memories she created with friends and family. She made a lasting impact on many lives, and her presence will be deeply missed. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones. Everyone who knew her will feel her absence profoundly.
