Cuyahoga Falls

Elizabeth L. Griffith (Jacobs), 92, of Akron, Ohio passed away August 31, 2024 at her daughter’s home in hospice, following lung cancer. She was born June 20, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Gleason N. Jacobs and Florence M. Jacobs (Richmond). Elizabeth “Betty” grew up in Chesterland, Ohio and moved to Tallmadge in 1947. Betty attended Chesterland schools through grade nine and then graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1950. Later in life, Betty attended the University of Akron, focusing on art and design. She retired from Allstate in 2010 and also worked for the Board of Elections. Through the years, Betty’s heart was always with her Richmond family in Chesterland. She loved gardening, especially growing roses. She enjoyed buying antique glassware, furniture, and dolls. She was known for her love of hats and was often called “the hat lady”. She was an avid sewer and made many of her own clothes. She was especially proud of her grandson Eric, and threatened the family many times to live to age 102, in order to see how he would live his life. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her daughter Sheila Walters (Walter Griffith); and brother Gleason R. Jacobs. She is survived by her sister Janet McCaulley of Tallmadge; daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Rick Bissonnette of Cuyahoga Falls; and her grandson Eric Bissonnette of Columbus. Special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve for their compassionate care. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place, and Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Chesterland Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Mason Funeral Home (330) 535-9186
