David John McKinley

David McKinley, 83, of Macedonia, passed away peacefully after complications from Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence inside Summit Corners Assisted Living. Before coming to Macedonia, David was a long time resident of Uniontown, Ohio. 

Born on June 5, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio he was a son of the late David Wendell and Eva Marie (Murphy) McKinley.  

David graduated from Canfield High School in 1959 and attended Youngstown State University where he played baseball. He later served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, and after returning home from service, he met his wife Ida. 

He is survived by two sons, Kevin (Carrie) and Shon (Elizabeth) McKinley, and six grandchildren, Kristen, Rachel, Andrew, Lydia, Rebecca, and Emma. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ida, sisters Alta and Jean, and brother Jim. David was also related to the late President William McKinley.

Interment for both David and Ida McKinley will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, Ohio, where David will receive military honors on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 12:45PM.

The family will be welcoming family, friends, and loved ones to their home for a celebration of David’s life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 2:00-5:00. There will be a short service beginning at 2:30 by Aimee Jo Hare of the Uniontown United Methodist Church, where David had been a member. The home is located at 1193 Lanes End, Macedonia, Ohio.
