Dauna L. McLeod

Dauna L. McLeod, age 88 of Akron went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Dauna was born January 10, 1934 to the late Lester and Emma Johnson.  She married the love of her life Roger on May 11, 1957 and had 2 daughters and 2 sons.  Dauna enjoyed caring for children having an in-home daycare business for 37+ years. She nurtured countless numbers of children with love and encouragement.  Dauna was a familiar face at Harris Elementary School where she spent numerous hours tutoring students and helping out during breakfast and lunch. Harris' teachers loved Dauna because she was always willing to cut lamination, trace patterns, and prepare materials for the school day.  Dauna was a faithful life long member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School, was an active member of the Altar Guild and would set up for the Sunday social hours. A lover of animals, Dauna was known for donating to many animal charities and shelters over the years.  Dauna’s favorite pastime was watching her remarkable Cleveland Guardians and we are sure she is rooting them on from Heaven!

Dauna is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Roger Sr., and her sister Audry.  She is survived by her daughters Candace (Dave) Walker and Caron McLeod; sons Matthew and Roger II McLeod; one granddaughter and several great grandchildren; many other family members and dear friends.

Dauna’s children would like to extend their sincere thank you and heartfelt gratitude to the following; their mother’s favorite Visiting Angels, Amber, Cheryl and Robin; to the caring nurses and aides at Concordia at Sumner; and finally to the remarkable ER nurse at Akron General Cleveland Clinic who held their mother’s hand in prayer.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor our parents Dauna and Roger McLeod who have been reunited in Heaven.  We will gather together on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44305.  Calling hours are from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service, Father Alan Belton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to  the Humane Society of Akron (7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087).
