Cynthia “Cindy” Grace Anslow Sapronetti, 86, of Akron, OH, died peacefully on April 11, 2025. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Richard Lee Sapronetti, in 2016. She is survived by three children, Todd Freshwater of Cleveland, OH, Blake Freshwater of Gallatin, TN and Michael Sapronetti of Arlington, VA; five stepchildren; and fourteen grandchildren. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Camella Living, and her loving caregivers, affectionately known as the “Cindy Chicks.”
Cindy was a graduate of Mayfield Heights High School in 1956 and of Ohio Wesleyan University in 1960. She also received a Master of Education from The University of Akron in 1981. She served as a teacher in the Akron City Schools at East High School and Garfield High School for more than 30 years prior to “retirement.” In her second career of over 15 years, she was a travel agent for Chima Travel in Akron, OH.
Her loves were varied but anchored in her time and investment in her family and friends, near and far. Cindy was a loyal patron of the arts, and consistently enjoyed concerts at Blossom Music Center and Severance Hall. An avid traveler, she shared many exciting adventures and meticulous itineraries with family and friends. Her personal style and taste were unparalleled, and she was generous with thoughtful and beautiful gifts, selected carefully from the aisles of her favorite stores.
For those in her inner circle, “Cindy Spice” was the perfect nickname given her zest for life, sharp wit, and fierce loyalty. She was an engaging and delightful friend to those honored to share her company. She will be missed and remembered fondly by all whose lives were impacted by her legacy.
A gathering to celebrate Cindy’s life will be planned for family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to honor Cindy to support her favorite charitable organizations, including Stuart’s Caring Place, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Summit County Metro parks, the Cleveland Orchestra, and Akron Civic Theatre.
