Carolyn R. Pfeifer, 91, passed away April 10, 2025. She was born May 24, 1933 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Rose Dzoch. If you ever had the opportunity to have met her, you would know Carolyn was a sweetheart, a force of nature, protective of her children and grandchildren, and one tough lady. She could always make you laugh with her sassy comments and quick wit. She loved being outdoors, planting flowers, picking dandelions and feeding the birds in her backyard.
She kept her family on their toes for the past several years! The issues with losing her vision was very tough. She was so frustrated but never gave up and never stopped moving. She was a fighter, a joker, stubborn to a fault, and she could be ready to jump in the car and go to a casino in a flash! The week before she passed she had lunch at Johnny J's on Monday and at Applebee's on Wednesday. She climbed in/out of the car in the pouring rain like a trooper.
That same Wednesday she said she was tired and she was complaining about her eye sight, but otherwise she felt pretty good! It seemed as though maybe something was not right. Just a few days later she was admitted to Akron City with abdominal pain. Four days later she passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She had 91 good years, some of it magic, some of it tragic, but she had a good life all the way. (Buffett)
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her siblings as she was the last of eleven children. She is preceded in death by her husband William Pfeifer; daughter Marion Dzoch; as well as her son Tony Dzoch. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Linda (Scott) Olds; daughter-in-law Sandy Shaffer; son Richard Karr; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street), where a memorial service will immediately follow at 6:30 PM. Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In her honor, I ask that you take a minute or two just to smile a little longer, hug a little harder, and give a little more of yourself to someone else, It makes all the difference in the world.
