Barbara Kingan (nee Gutrankski), 73, of Akron, Ohio, passed away 7/26/2023 following a period of declining health. She was born 4/21/1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Steve and Stella Gutfranski. Barbara grew up in Hinckley, graduating from Highland High School. She became an executive secretary at the Jones Day Legal Firm in Cleveland, excelling in her role. After her marriage to Greg Kingan, she moved to the Akron area, raising a family. Surviving are her daughters: Stacey Doty (Clayton), Stephanie Givens (Jon), Bonnie Hill, Barbara Brusnighan (Stephen), grandchildren: Jacob, Graham, Corbin, Addison, Brynn and Olivia, sisters: Diane Dermody, Cindi Dillinger, and brother Steve Gutfranski (Susan), and her former husband and friend, Greg Kingan. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy Armstrong.
Barbara was very proud of her four daughters and grandchildren. She was a talented embroiderer, her works of art are cherished tributes to her skill. Barbara loved to read, play card games and scrabble and do puzzles. She loved to sing and harmonize other voices - may she sing well in the heavenly choir!
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Shady Hollow Lodge in Sand Run Metro Park - 1750 Sand Run Pkwy, Akron, Ohio 44313.
